Hattie Maye's Girls
We want to thank everyone for allowing us to have private time with our mom. We have been celebrating her homegoing since the Lord saw fit to take her last breath. It is time now to formally allow her body to return to the dust. We have decided to return her body to Kansas City, Kansas. A visitation and very brief service will be held on Jan.13, 2017. We will then proceed to Leavenworth Kansas National Cemetery for burial with her husband. We will come together afterwards at her sister Lessie Gardner's home in Kansas City, Kansas. My sisters and I will remain in Kansas City for the duration of the holiday weekend. All are welcome to attend and be with us wherever we are however, we do know that the weather and holiday season may hinder travel. It's ok. It may be icy and freezing cold.
We loved our mom hard and she loved us back. We will miss her dearly but we have no regrets or fears of where her spirit is. We have felt your love and your prayers. We do ask that in lieu of flowers (it's cold and we have no way of transporting them regardless of how beautiful they may be) an in kind donation to the funeral home would be more practical and greatly appreciated. It certainly will help to offset the costs. Every penny is welcome.
All of your phone calls and stories have meant so much to us. We've been able to laugh, cry, and start the healing process.
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Sincerely,
H. Maye's Girls
