Hatton Special School Needs New Minibuses
Redbridge Special Educational Needs School Needs Your Help to Raise £52,000
Parents and Supporters of Hatton walked 10k in September 2021 to start the fundraising off. Well done to everyone who took part!
Hatton School and Special Needs Centre is a primary school for children with additional needs in Redbridge, East London. It currently has 190 pupils from across the borough, many of whom have a diagnosis of Autism, Down’s Syndrome or other social, communication difficulties and associated behaviours. These are unique and beautiful children with complex needs that stretch way beyond the delivery of the curriculum.
In addition to classroom teaching and onsite activities, Hatton staff also take children on day trips to farms and forests, wildlife parks and to offsite lessons. The school’s two minibuses are vital in providing safe and comfortable transport for children and staff, and are also used to transport children home from after school clubs. Many children at Hatton have challenges with their mobility or anxiety, so hopping on a coach, London bus or tube to get to an activity just isn’t possible.
Hatton School Friends Association (HSFA) is a registered charity which fundraises for Hatton School and Special Needs Centre. Its board is comprised of staff, parents of children at the school and local friends who care about the school and its amazing children. We urgently need to raise £52,000 to buy two new minibuses to replace the existing ones, which are two old to comply with emission zone legislation. These buses make a huge difference to pupils and staff at Hatton and day trips simply won’t happen if they cannot be replaced by October 2022.
Hatton is a wonderful school filled with creativity, learning and love. Please dig deep to support our fundraising efforts.
Pupils of Hatton who will directly benefit from the new minibuses, which would allow them to get out and about in their local community and be provided every opportunity to continue to thrive.
