We never imagined ourselves in this position. Losing our Pacific Palisades home in the fire was an utter shock – something you can never be prepared for. It all happened so quickly. We watched on TV as our home burned, right behind the news reporter. It's indescribable and heart-wrenching.

Our home was our heart and soul. In an instant, everything we worked so hard for, the beautiful life we created, vanished. Every treasured memory, every favorite object, all our valuables – even a car – reduced to ash.

We loved every part of our home, from our meticulously curated kitchen where we cooked together to the living room where we watched movies and cuddled up on the couch. We dreamed of keeping this home forever.

The fire took more than just possessions. It took the feeling of safety and comfort, the sense of community, the convenience of city living near nature. Losing it feels like losing a part of our identity.

Our lives are now upside down. We're living out of a single suitcase in a hotel. Our daughter cries at school, missing her home. It's heartbreaking.

The truth is, insurance won't even come close to covering our losses. We are facing a significant financial burden, having to pay rent while still being stuck with the mortgage on a place that's gone. Rebuilding will take years. We must replace everything while dealing with the emotional pain of starting over.
