Have a Heart to Save Mike's Heart

Michael Zamparelli, sometimes known as "Zamp", is a 63-year-old hard working husband and father of three grown, loving children. Mike is currently facing a life and death situation and needs a heart transplant due to heart disease. He was your typical hard worker, he felt if you slowed down mentally and physically, so would your body.
In 2006, Mike was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Through routine workup, an EKG showed Arterial Fibrillation (A-Fib). He went through 3 separate procedures, as well an ablation to try and correct his A-Fib. Despite the efforts, the procedures were not successful. His family knew his condition would not get better but prayed for the best outcome while reaching out to different doctors. However, Michael soon had 2 heart attacks which led to more irreversible heart damage, open heart surgery, stents and a mitral valve repair.
Mike went through intensive and invasive tests which proved positive for Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome (SADS). This diagnosis resulted in placement of a pacemaker to keep his heart rate above 60 and a defibrillator for SADS, which would shock his heart if it stopped.
After many trips to the ER, in November 2018, he was advised to see a Heart Transplant Team at NYU Langone, led by Dr. Alex Reyentonovich. In December 2018, Mike met with the NYU transplant team and was advised he would have 1-2 years before he needed a new heart, and to start preparing mentally, financially and physically for this life changing procedure.
Unfortunately, in this time Mike’s health declined rapidly and he has run into problems. Mike is currently in the hospital in heart failure, having many issues with his kidney which would require a double organ transplant, if left untreated. Due to insurance issues, which are overwhelmingly complicated, he needs to be transported to NYU Langone to wait for a donor heart.
Due to previous and upcoming medical expenses and being out of work, his family has pulled together over the last 13 years to get him to this point. However, with continuing medical expenses, and the cost of medications, including anti-rejection medications that will need to provided every day for him to survive, financial hardship has fallen on Mike. We hope you can pray with us for the healing and speedy recovery of Mike, as well as donate to his cause.
