Two cultures - One family
Hailing from Donetsk, Ukraine, Bogdan “Shark” Grebenyuk is a student and member of the swim team at West Chester University. Shark has enjoyed the life of a college athlete in the United States. Over the years, Shark has formed a special "brotherhood" with his teammate and swim lane partner, West Chester Henderson (Pa) native, David McCormick. Shark and David's parents now consider each other family.

When war hits home
All was well for the Grebenyuk family until February 2014 -- that's when the Russians began military operations resulting in the seizure of Ukraine's Crimean Peninsula. Since then, there has been a civil war throughout eastern Ukraine. Hundreds of innocent people have been killed, specifically in Shark’s hometown of Donetsk. Shark’s father, a doctor, was targeted to be killed by a terrorist group. He was shot at twice, including a mock excution. Shark’s mom was a witness to this horrific event. Fortunately, he survived.

Escape to West Chester, PA
With a couple of suitcases, travel visas and the assistance of hired militia, Shark's parents traveled to Kiev, Ukraine. There, they boarded a plane and arrived in West Chester, PA on Tuesday, July 8, 2014. Currently they are living in West Chester Pa.

Shark's parents needs your help
With Shark’s parents now safe in the United States.  They have some immediate basic needs that require financial assistance.
