The Haven Rescue €25,000 Veterinary Bill

Donation protected

Our local rescue is in great need and at the break of closing down due to our massive vet bill.
please, help us to help our animals, we have never abandoned any in need but this time we need the help. We hold great pride in being a foster based rescue and having rehomed over 200 dogs alone in 2019. All our pets are vet checked and neutered. Once cleared by the vet, they are placed in foster care as we believe this helps them adapt quicker to the pet-life. Many of our animals do not know what this means when they come into our care.

For the past years we have not received much government funding at all, €1000 total which doesn’t even cover food costs. So far we managed to keep our heads afloat. We ended 2019 with a vet bill of €14,000 but since January we’ve had an additional €11,000. As we cannot manage without funding this has brought us to closing our doors to many in need. We actually have a waiting list...

Here are some stories of dogs in our care just from this year alone...

-2nd litter of the year came in with Parvo. All pups needed urgent medical care, hospitalisation, ended up on IV and unfortunately some did not make it.. The ones that did recover, are being fostered and rehomed. They spend weeks on the mend, medication, food, assistance, care, etc. All added quick up.

-Greyhound coursing season ended, the fortunate souls ended up with us. All needed neutering, feeding as many were emaciated, dental work done, infections removed/treated, X-rays taken; we had some come in with broken pelvis and legs. Some were high on “self-medication” and other drugs, many were to anxious to be left alone. We have had bitches come in horrendous states, one full of dead puppies.. heart breaking.

-Greyhound puppy, Cora, came in with a deformed leg, which needed to be amputated.

-Lucky, dumped into our care after being a devoted family pet for 5 years. He is so heartbroken, has not stopped howling since.

-Grouse, 1 of 5 pointers came in last week, covered in Mange, emaciated and needed additional veterinary care.

all our animals’ stories can be found on our facebook page. On top of all this... animals that are booked for a home, cannot leave. The Covid-19 virus has made it impossible to do transport to UK, Sweden and Italy, even within Ireland it’s tough. This means however that the dogs stay in foster care, blocking the option for others to come in. We have exceeded our foster homes and now have to kennel even some of our rescues.

Please, we beg, help us. Due to all recent events we have to close our doors, temporarily, we hope that once funding and transport starts, we can reopen. Please, it means a lot to many of our volunteers, to our animals. Help us to help them.
