Hawn Strong Round 2

Hi, my name is Amanda Townsend and I am starting this fundraiser for my friend since childhood, Laura Hawn. Laura and I met in 4th grade at Kingsley Elementary School. We have remained friends and kept in touch all these years. She is a wonderful friend and confidant to me and so many others.

Many of you know that Laura's colon cancer has returned. Her last surgery was in May 2020. Prior to surgery, she had 12 rounds of chemo. After her surgery, pathology reports declared her margins were clear and chemo after surgery was not necessary.

Unfortunately, Laura became sick again in early Fall 2022. She reached out to her doctor and a full workup was started. Lab work, CTs, and eventually a PET scan. Laura has been unable to work full time hours since the beginning of November 2022 due to extreme pain, nausea, and general weakness. Laura has been a dedicated Pal's employee for 13 years. She is a Leader for the Brooks Circle location.

Laura is a single Mother to her daughter, Mae. Mae is 5 years old and in Kindergarten. With the help of her supportive family, Laura is doing her best to keep Mae's routine the same with school and extra curricular activities, despite her illness.

Laura's next surgery is scheduled for March 7th at UT Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. She will have 2 different specialized surgeons involved in the removal of this new mass due to the size, location, and organs surrounding it. After she has healed from surgery she will start Chemotherapy. Right now Laura is unsure how many rounds of Chemotherapy will be necessary, therefore she is unsure when she will be able to return to work.

I am asking for donations to support Laura Hawn while she Slays the Dragon once again. We know those Hawns don't back down! Let's support Laura and Mae during this time to ease the financial burden while she is unable to work. ALL donations will go directly to support Laura and Mae during this difficult time.
