Hayes-Wong Accident Recovery & Adoption Fund
Dear Community,
We are a family of two mommies of color, Lily and Tamika, with two young daughters – a 6-year-old, Sage, and a 3-month-old, Phoenix. On the morning of October 1st, we all survived a hit-and-run accident while driving through an intersection in West Oakland, California. The driver ran a red light, hit us, and sped off. Thankfully, we were able to walk away from the accident but are faced with worsening medical issues, being without our family vehicle, and recovering from stress and trauma.
We are asking for support from our immediate and extended community through this fund to get us through this intensely difficult time. Tamika was abruptly laid off mere days before Phoenix's due date and Lily has been unemployed for several years. The accident has only exacerbated an already hard financial time.
Our immediate expenses include:
- Rental Car co-pays
- Medical co-pays
- Seed Fund for a Replacement Vehicle
Your support will also help us save for legal fees to adopt our infant. As some of you well know, establishing parenthood for same-sex couples is not automatic, and this accident threatens to derail our original timeline to complete this process.
