It is with deep regret that we share with you the loss of our Mom. Hazel V. Williams born in Brunswuck, GA. She was a loving Mom, grandmother, and a great grandmother. Hazel was a friend and a role model to so many. She gave of herself tirelessly. She initiated the Pond Street block watch association in the 1980's. She also began the city's first block watch party somewhere in the mid 80's, and every July 4th she would go door to door and encourage all the neigbors to bring their backyard cookout to the front of there homes, and gave out flags to post to honor independence. She won and was recognized for getting New Haven An All American City win in late 1980's and early 1990's. She worked in her churches food pantry giving out food to those in need. (Thursday was her day to give),she gave coats to kids in her community during winter season. She shared information to help whomever needed it. She walked to thousands of sevices throughout her community and acknowledged people by giving sympathy cards, celebratory cards, baking her famous cakes (red velvet)or making her famous strawberry lemonade. Some of you all may also remember our Mom as your bank teller for Bank of Boston or Connecticut Savings Bank where she took the time to encourage the people who were lucky enough to step into her line We are raising funds because we were hit with this unexpectedly and also because we want to memorialize her like she deserves. If you have any questions. Stephanie (daughter)
