Catholic World in Pictures
Making the Catholic World in Pictures searchable and accessible for all! For nearly 50 years, the Catholic World in Pictures illuminated stories of our faith and mission bringing them into the homes of millions of Catholics throughout the U.S. through their diocesan papers.
People everywhere enjoyed learning about and seeing the works of the Holy Father at the Vatican and missions in faraway lands. Local good works, religious life, and ministry of Catholics from all walks of life and across the globe are featured. You can help bring them back to the forefront by making them available online.
In 2016, the Catholic Research Resources Alliance (CRRA) teamed up with several Dioceses and Archdioceses, Catholic Universities, Catholic News Service (CNS) and the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops to scan and digitize the National Catholic Welfare Conference/Catholic News Service Newsfeeds on microfilm and a sample volume of the companion Catholic World in Pictures and made them freely available on CRRA's Catholic News Archive . Have a look!
With your support, the CNS and CRRA can digitize and make freely available the entire run (from the 1920s to the 1960s) of this precious resource of our history in words and pictures.
The USCCB/CNS Archive is responsible for the care, storage, and preservation of this unique and historical resource. Despite the best care, these are endangered materials, due to the print paper type which is aging rapidly. Let us together keep our history and the Word alive by making this available in perpetuity to all.
Thank you for helping to digitize the "good news" of the Church around the world.
Help spread the word!
