Long story short:
I am always saying this could be my artist statement as working in betweens is like my last act of liberation left
2011 I am getting badly injured in the maternity hospital
2012 Loss of a kidney as a result of above
2012 Pneumothorax after nephrectomy
2013 First big lung operation as pneumothorax won’t heal
2014 Another vast lung operation / total pleurectomy
2016 Three vast abdominal surgeries in France –inflamatory mass grew on remnants of damaged ureter/ big tumor overtook bowel and iliac artery
2019 Hypertension, development of first stages of chronic kidney diseuse
2021 Issues with remaining kidney; kink on right ureter detected; might need surgery for that
2022 Recurrence of pneumothorax
2023 Admission to lung hospital to operate / surgery cancelled due to risks involved
2023 Thyroid cancer diagnosed – admission to Onco hospital in Warsaw; due to issues with the lung, which would collapse completely I might need to be connected to an artificial heart/ lung… too many risks. Finding an alternative in France again. Treatment will be done under local anaesthesia. Same time development of strong tetany / losses of consciousness
2024 January Got information that thermo ablation is not in “the basket” of refunded procedures.
Selling my works covers all our bills / life / med expenses such as examinations, medications …I guess this is the worst feeling ever, being trapped in such a sticky ill health situation for so long, which slows us down and applies more and more pressure. And each new surgery is too much for our exhausted system.
Always something ...
Every time I am emerging a bit, our hearts are being shattered again after some time.I am really tired mentally and physically, although I know and I am aware I am doing 200% my best.I am aware that my health will never be restored fully and that after all surgeries and loss I will always deal with health issues to some degree.
But I do hope I will have some break for a little while from the most urgent issue right now.
I am setting up this fundraiser with a heavy heart as the financial impact is significant and I am trying to cover the medical bill for my upcoming procedure (which is happening this week).
