HBCU Heroes Computer Drive
Tax deductible
Want to join us in making a difference? We're raising money to purchase computers for HBCU student-athletes forced into distance-learning due to the CoronaVirus.
As an HBCU head men's basketball coach, George Lynch has experienced first hand the economic disparities that tend to affect many HBCU athletic programs. Currently, with the coronavirus forcing mass shutdowns, students have been sent home to complete their courses online. Those without computers can't go to the library. They can't go to a friend's house. They have limited options and resources.
Why student-athletes? Sports are the vehicle for raising visibility, enrollment, awareness, and funding at colleges and universities. A winning team(s) raises the platform and changes the game. While most HBCU athletic programs suffer from a lack of corporate sponsors and TV time, they are never short on HBCU pride, legacy, and drive.
The trickle-down effect of the pandemic threatens to erode these very athletic programs that HBCUs are known for. If you've ever been to an HBCU homecoming, half-time show, the Battle of The Bands or HBCU Classic...we don't have to tell you how important athletes are to the sustainability of HBCUs.
HBCUs and their athletic departments across America are scrambling to assist their student-athletes with the tools they need to succeed.
Many student-athletes who didn't have computers while studying on campus used computer labs or the library.
This sudden loss of access will undoubtedly lead to student-athletes failing courses and risking their eligibility.
It’s important that we do not allow HBCU students to be affected inadvertently by this pandemic. By supplying computers for these virtual learners unexpectedly thrust into this new educational requirement, HBCU Heroes is keeping them properly equipped during these ever-changing times.
Join us with your tax-deductible donation in providing this invaluable resource for HBCUs.
HBCU Heroes DBA Flight Nine Academy is a nonprofit (501c3). All donations are tax-deductible and will help make an impact.
Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to HBCU students nationwide struggling to maintain their strong academic performances while learning remotely during this most unexpected and difficult transition. #AloneTogether
