Hello All,

My name is Anna. This GoFundMe is set up for my mother, Carol! She recently had open heart surgery to help cure Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. This is a congenital heart desease. My mom has touched so many lives in her years of teaching/practicing medicine, impacting numerous communities across the United States due to all her work assignments and impacting the Lawrence, KS community!

In 2019, She visited Mayo Clinic and realized that the symptoms, i.e. shortness of breath, fainting, extensive discomfort to the heart were worsening. After the visit of course COVID happened and she was unable to get the surgery she needed.

Fast forward to the last TWO weeks --

June 05, 2023 MY MOM was able to under go open heart surgery and remove the obstruction that was taking years, weeks, months and days off her life!!

She will never be one to complain or ask for handouts! She is the bravest woman and strongest person that i know! She has never let her heart defect affect her lives or her children. She has put my sister and I first when it came to school, sports, and our dreams and now it is time for me to do this for her!
