ALS Fundraiser for Greg Martinez

His nickname is “The Mayor” because he knows everyone in town and to know Greg Martinez is to love him. He is a dedicated husband and father, a devoted friend, a faithful Charger and Padres fan, surfer and snowboarder, and he has dance moves that could go all night! Our dear friend Greg has also been diagnosed with ALS, aka Lou Gehrig's Disease.

If you are not familiar ALS, it is an unforgiving motor neuron disease that has no cure. As it attacks your voluntary muscle control, you eventually become trapped in a body that can no longer execute even the most basic functions like breathing.

Greg can no longer work due to the significant decline in his physical abilities since his diagnosis a year and a half ago. He has lost dexterity in his hands, and walking and breathing are challenging.

To help compensate for the ever increasing lack of mobility, he needs to purchase new equipment and renovate his bathroom to make it ADA compliant so everyday tasks we take for granted like using the shower and restroom are manageable.

We are reaching out to friends and friends of friends to help make Greg’s home a place where he can live as normal a life as possible with the right equipment to do it.

Greg continues to cope with each new challenge with a positive and upbeat attitude and his amazing wife, 20 year old son and 16 year old daughter are supporting him on this journey, but he also needs the help of his community.
