About Delicia:

A creative, learner, and educator, Delicia Raveenthrarajan, was decorated with the Governor General’s Sovereign Volunteer Medal of Canada for her passions in youth mental health advocacy, international development, and music education. Delicia's work included grass-roots facilitation, government advocacy, and engagements in collaboration with organizations and educational institutes such as the University of Toronto, Ontario College of Teachers, Women’s Forum, and the University of Western Ontario. Through story-telling and creation, she advocated for culturally responsive youth mental health care and awareness, and anti-oppressive arts education practices. In addition, her work has been published by the likes of Teen Vogue, The Mighty, and The Recorder. In 2018, Delicia was inducted into the Scarborough Walk of Fame as a Rising Star.

With a passion for community-engaged music-making, Delicia was a choral conductor at Sistema Toronto, Sir Oliver Mowat C.I., and formerly Timothy Eaton Memorial Church. In addition to her work in ensemble-based music, she pursued a double major in Music and Culture and Mental Health Studies at the University of Toronto where she also worked as a community music research assistant. In 2019, Delicia was awarded the Ontario Student Trustees’ Association Dedication to the Arts Award and was named a University of Toronto President’s Scholar of Excellence. With her wide-ranging experience in arts leadership and advocacy, Delicia served as the inaugural Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Director for the Ontario Music Educators’ Association.
