He Is Just A CHILD!!! (CURTIS)

We are Curtis' teachers. He's been our student from 2nd-8th grade! Curtis Jackson is a very bright and athletic student who was headed to St. Edward High School this month!

Imagine This: You are preparing your return to school, ready to hear all the fun and exciting stories of what happened over your scholar's summer break. But instead, you’re met at the door with horrifying news that one of your scholars had been knocked off his bike, stood over and shot 7 times: 4 in the chest, 2 in the arm and 1 grazing his head and left for dead. He was rushed to the hospital, having 4 emergency surgeries with more potentially in the near future.

His parents, as expected, have missed work because their child is fighting for his life. Now school has started back and they are trying to ensure their youngest son gets to school daily for a relief of this tragic incident. Under these unexpected circumstances, they have not been able to work, but bills (housing, transportation, and food) still need to be met. As teachers, we have connected them with services that can possibly help meet their needs, but there is a financial burden that we are trying to help support. We can't do it alone and are asking for assistance for this family. Curtis' parents have been a huge support in their children's education and we would like to help give that back.

From recent conversation, Curtis is still in the hospital and has made some progress. We are hoping for the community to help us be Curtis' village!
