Supporting the Tantum Trust for Headley's 50th Anniversary
Headley is 50 years old! To celebrate, we are on a drive to raise £50,000 in this momentous year for a charity close to Headley's heart, The Tantum Trust. The charity was established in 1992 by one of the original owners of Headley Financial Services, Carl Tantum.
The Tantum trust raises funds primarily from profits made from the four shops and then distributes grants to local families, individuals and community groups who are in desperate need. Grants are typically around £500 and can be to cover a range of needs, such as setting up a home for a victim of domestic abuse, school trips or simply to settle crippling bills for those living on very low incomes. The charity distributes food vouchers as Christmas for the most needy families as identified by our local schools.
We particularly like the ethos of the charity as the economic model is circular with donations being made to shops which in turn sell them to support the poorest people in the same community. Repurposing clothing and other goods is good for our planet and the charity provides work and volunteering opportunities.
Our 2024 fundraising will create a ‘Youth Fund’ for The Tantum Trust to support more children who’s family are stuck in the poverty trap and who are unable to therefore afford school trips and other extracurricular activities such as music and swimming lessons and extra tuition. By giving the younger generation access to these opportunities may enable them to find a better path in life.
