Headstone 30 years in the making
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Melissa Stratton. My father, Michael J. Stratton passed away 30 years and 1 month ago in a car crash, leaving me and his 2 sons, he was only 25 years old... Due to the unexpected nature of his passing, he had no life insurance. My grandmother was able to provide a funeral, which although I was only 4, I remember as being wall to wall. Unfortunately she was not able to offord a headstone or any marker. My father has been in an unmarked grave for now over 30 years. I have recently been able to come into contact with someone from the cemetery to help with signatures. My father was an army veteran and is eligible for a free headstone through the government. However, the foundation it sits on and the installation is not covered so far I have had one memorial deal return a quote of 500 dollars. I am waiting for 4 more to reply. I have wanted my father to have a proper marker since before I can remember. Now that most of the cost is covered I am ashamed to say that my income to expense ratio is not one that would allow me to pay this sum at one time. That is why I am reaching out to you, to help give my father a proper resting place, a place he can be remembered and not walked over like an empty space in the cemetery.
