Donation protected
Thank you to all who have donated to this fund. A beautiful headstone was purchased and placed in the cemetery. This would not have been possible without your help!
I am closing this fundraiser and again, many thanks to all who made this project possible!

Hi, my name is Marilyn. My dear friend Anne’s daughter Joleen Cummings was the victim of a brutal murder.
We associate death and grieving with a physical body. Most funeral arrangements involve a viewing, where friends and family can share memories and get a last glimpse of the body that once was their friend or loved one. We usually follow that with a service that culminates in the lowering of the casket in the ground or the handing of the ashes to the survivors. Without a body, all of those traditions are disrupted. No obituary, No body for a casket, No viewing, No funeral service, no headstone.
For those of us that have experience an adult child murdered where Joleen's remains denied being disclosed, has the family in denial. Joleen's three young children have been left without their mother; we are in Denial as it's one of the classic stages of grief. Our mind naturally wants to assume that our dead loved one will walk through the front door any minute. When there is no body, our mind can get stuck in this stage, even when all evidence points to the fact that the person is gone, and Joleen will never be seen again.
Joleen Rebecca (Jensen) Cummings was brutally murdered on May 12, 2018. One day before Joleen's birthday and on Mother's Day, the day a mother was blessed with the best gift of all a baby. Due to plenty of evidence and DNA there was a conviction, but no body for the family to bury.
The sentencing took place in January 2022. The family had to endure almost 4 years before a conviction. Now the family wants to prepare for a celebration of life and a private service at the cemetery where a headstone will be placed. Had Joleen's remains been found, we would have a Christian burial as Joleen would have wanted.
For the past 4 years the family has only a bench etched with Joleen's name and nick names. It's so impersonal not to have a place where Joleen would be remembered beside her family. Joleen's mother and stepfather have already purchased their headstones for when they pass.
Any money raised will go toward a "Church memorial, and a magnificent angel headstone that will include Joleen's three children's names.
Any additional money will be donated to church missions in Joleen's name.
