Please Help Us Heal a Hero That Stopped a Suicide Attempt On the Verrazano Bridge

Please help us save our sister.

Our sister Jennifer is a lupus warrior who suffers daily from this debilitating disease. Jennifer's lupus interferes with every second of her life causing a plethora of severe medical issues, as her vital and non-vital organs shut down, one after another.

Jennifer helped raise us by quitting school and getting a job when she was just 14 years old. At various times, she has been the sole person supporting her family. On top of this, Jennifer protected her siblings from abusive parents and relatives as they grew up.

In her 20's, Jennifer attempted to join the NYPD and the US military, but was denied due to her sudden decline in health.

However, this did not deter Jennifer from becoming an asset to her community. She returned to school and obtained her graduate degree which allowed her to work with special needs adults. Jennifer was part of organizations such as the AHRC which implemented programs which help special needs adults in the New York City area. Many of these programs are still in use today.

What is most important is that Jennifer has not only saved her family from harm, but also countless strangers in her everyday life. Jennifer has found herself becoming a first responder and a good samaratin.

While working in Brooklyn in the area of Boreum Hill, Jennifer was the first responder to many auto accidents where she provided CPR to help revive victims.

Then, on Tuesday December 16th 2003, while Jen was driving to work she saw a man trying to jump off the Verrazano bridge, long before most of the prevention measures that exist today were implemented. Jennifer was able to talk the man into delaying his suicide long enough for help to arrive, and his life was saved. An account of this incident was recorded by Stephanie Slepian for the Staten Island Advanced local newspaper.

Even after all this, Jennifer has never waivered in her charity. After 9/11, she helped organize and engaged in grief counseling for Brooklyn churches, often dealing with children who lost parents. Jennifer aids parents in need providing Christmas gifts for their children and feeding children who lost their parents due to illness or incarceration.
