Healing and Hope for Jeff Daghir and Family
SITUATION
Due to severe complications from influenza A, Jeff Daghir has been in a medically-induced coma since February 23. His sister, Becky Daghir Wardzala, is serving as legal guardian to manage his finances as long as needed.
BACKGROUND
On February 21, Jeff was admitted to the hospital in Columbus, Indiana with pneumonia resulting from influenza. He was soon diagnosed with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) and his condition continued to deteriorate rapidly.
Two days later, Jeff's lungs were struggling in their fight, and he was helicoptered to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. On February 28th an additional life support system, ECMO, was added. ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) is a machine that functions as a heart-lung bypass system, oxygenating the blood when the heart and lungs can no longer do so adequately. This system also gives the lungs a chance to rest and heal.
OUR ASK
We're asking for donations to help with Jeff's expenses. We're starting with a goal of $10,000 - the cost of a single day to keep Jeff alive with ECMO.
In these first 14 days of hospitalization, Jeff’s medical bills are already tremendous. As he continues to fight, we know his path to a complete rehabilitation and recovery will be long, and the medical expenses overwhelming.
WHO WE ARE
We are friends of the family, specifically friends of Jeff's sister, Becky. (photo below from the weekend of Becky's wedding). We started this fundraiser to help with Jeff's expenses, and it was created with input and support from the Daghir family.
HOW THE FUNDS WILL BE USED
All funds will be managed by Becky, serving as guardian to responsibly and appropriately meet Jeff's existing bills and continuing medical expenses.
OTHER WAYS TO HELP
As Jeff's condition is extremely critical, the family requests no visitors. He is truly in a fight for his life, and the best ways to help are through donation, prayer and keeping the family in your thoughts.
Use this form to send Jeff and his family a note. It will be printed and hand delivered to his room. In the hospital dropdown, select "IU Health Methodist Hospital".
We are so grateful for anything you can donate to help.
