A little bit of our back story
Brendon was originally diagnosed with a Myxoid Sarcoma in his leg back in 2015. He under went surgery where they removed a 10cm tumour plus 8 cm of margins , he then had 35 sessions of intense radiation.
As shocking as it was for us we dug deep and fought through this Bren, was eventually declared cancer free ! The relief and elation was overwhelming…but only lasted for 5 years.
Unfortunately, April 2021, Brendon was suffering pain in his back which turned out to signal the return of his cancer, and this time it was back with a vengeance. The cancer had metastasised and spread to multiple tumours and by May the doctors diagnosis was Stage 4 cancer. After battling through 6 rounds of chemotherapy and finally finding his feet again, the doctors delivered another blow…a terminal diagnosis.
We as a family and our friends had researched our little hearts out and discovered a ground breaking treatment protocol being offered in Mexico that has proven great results with cancers like Brens. We were blessed to have been able to get to Mexico for treatment in March 2022 and then a follow up in August 2022. This treatment alone cost us close to over $120 thousand.
Some of the cancers have stayed steady as the intense treatment worked when we went over and he continues many of these protocols here in Australia at a huge expenses. He has had to cut back therapies due to the cost.
Our only Hope now is to continue the alternative therapies and maybe get back to Mexico with another huge expense over $80 thousand just on the treatment and then flights and accommodation. We would love for him to go back for another 3 week intensive treatment plan.
These alternate therapies are not covered by medicare or any insurance. We are spending in excess of a few thousand a month JUST on therapies not including the everyday living expenses, bills, car loans, organic food, cost of kids etc.
We have used all of our savings and Brendon’s life insurance to keep him fighting and hopefully beat this disease. He is young and has a whole life ahead of him with his children.
The things that bring Brendon joy and something to look forward to his helping out every week with his TRY TIME team. Seeing these ladies and gentlemen smile, laugh and enjoy their footy makes a huge difference in his life. He loves that he is able to give back to his community when so many people have given back to him over the last few years.
Bently will be shaving off his mullet that he has been growing for a few years now to raise funds for Brendon’s therapies. Please find it in your heart to help; no matter how small, it will help.
Thankyou from the bottom of our hearts.
