HEALING FOR JESSICA WALDRON
Donation protected
The family of Jessica Waldron have created this page on her behalf to humbly ask for your help in finding a path to recovery for her as she’s suffering from significant neuromuscular issues. She is a young wife to Damon Waldron and mother to two beautiful children – Reese (age 5) and Gray (age 3).
Over the past year, Jessica has been seen by several doctors across the country and has endured extensive testing – EMGs, MRIs, xrays, spinal taps, etc. Jessica first experienced dropfoot in her right foot in January 2021, followed by weakness in that leg, then weakness in her left leg and currently is confined to a wheelchair, unable to walk. She is now beginning to experience weakness in her core, hands and arms. The effect on her and her family has been devastating. There have been major life changes such as halting her career, being unable to drive and being unsure of the future. Sometimes it is the smaller things like not being able to bathe and tuck your children in their beds at night that can be the most heartbreaking.
The extensive testing she has endured points toward a very rare and serious neuromuscular disease with respiratory involvement that can be fatal. There is no current specific treatment available but her doctors believe that IVIG treatment may potentially slow down or halt its progression.
Jessica is currently being treated at the top pulmonary research hospital in the country located in Denver. Her doctor has requested approval from Jessica’s insurance companies for this treatment but has been repeatedly denied. These denials have been appealed but we are now at a point where we cannot wait any longer to provide her with the treatments that may help stop her current disabling condition.
While we, as her family, have been doing everything to support them, the cost of the IVIG treatment without insurance coverage is prohibitive. The treatments are estimated to cost $50,000 for three rounds of treatment.
Additionally, there are other treatments that Jessica will need to pursue in her quest to heal and become well again. These treatments, such as stem cell and plasma therapy, are not currently covered by her insurance company.
While Damon has worked hard to make her day to day life more accessible, through extensive home renovations and his own physical assistance, it is possible that more equipment and caregiving support will be needed in the near future.
It is for these things - IVIG treatments, other treatments and additional physical needs - we are hoping to raise $150,000 through the generosity of our family, friends and community.
We have found strength through prayer and by watching Jessica navigate this with grace, humor, sensitivity and her strong belief in the power to heal. We are asking for your support today to make it to the day we can celebrate her healing victory.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
