Keeping the Faith for Kelly’s Recovery ❤️‍

Hello everyone, my name is Kelsi and Kelly and has been one of my lifelong friends for almost 20 years now. Kelly lives in Texas with her two children and has friends and family all across the United States and the world. Monday evening, July 3rd, 2023, Kelly suffered a medical emergency after feeling ‘off’ and experiencing numbness. The ambulance was called and she spent 4 days in the ICU where she learned she had an occipital stroke & possible ocular stroke. The stroke has significantly affected the left side of her body and Kelly is left hand dominant. She has been working with physical therapy and occupational therapy to regain function and strength with her left hand and is making great progress but her leg is still mostly immobile. In addition, she is working with speech therapy on swallowing. She is waiting for an evaluation from ophthalmology to determine what the treatment plan/therapy plan for her eye will be.

The next 30 days are crucial for her healing and recovery as basic activities of daily living are difficult. Kelly has been able to keep good spirits overall but recognizes there is a lot of unknown right now. Our prayer is that Kelly will make a complete recovery, taking one small step at a time.

Urgent Needs as of 07/09/23:

Prior to her discharge from inpatient rehab, Kelly will need to find housing with handicap accessibility. Myself and a group of friends will be using the GoFundMe to help facilitate everything needed to find the perfect place and get her moved in. Once she is home, she will need various assistive devices in the household and may require help in coordinating appointments.

Kelly will be without work for the foreseeable future while she focuses on her health and this GoFundMe will help to support any incidentals in the mean time.
