When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Perfect phrase for my sister Rowena for all the challenges and difficulties that come her way, she still remains in great spirit and is optimistic about everything that is going on with her.
2019 is an off start for my sister as we found out in November 2018 that she has breast cancer. Some of you might not know that this will be the second time that she is challenged and have to fight for her life again. Back in April 2005, she almost lost her life from Brain AVM (Arteriovenous Malformation). She was in an induced coma, brain surgery, months in the hospital, had to learn how to walk and speak all over again like a little child.
APRIL 2015
Today, she is again fighting back but this time to this darn awful disease called Cancer. She is a fighter and always in great spirits. Even when she is in her toughest and weakest point, she still manages to joke around and make people around her laugh and smile.
Since her diagnosis in November, the trips back and forth to the hospital, doctors visit on a regular basis, spending many hours almost every day with doctors, surgeons and nurses for consultations, tests and never ending treatments. This has become almost a full-time job for her. It is a very emotional and overwhelming time but still trying to stay optimistic and strong with this battle of hers.
My sister lives alone and supports herself as a massage therapist but she still insists to work even after extensive chemo treatments because she has to pay for her piling medical bills. As she faces the challenges ahead, she may have to put work on hold to focus on her health and recovery. We are asking for your help so Rowena can use the time ahead to get HEALTHY and BE CANCER FREE. Every prayer, positive thought and love and every dollar of support is greatly appreciated.
