Healing the Healer - Hope for Dr Susan Miller

Sometimes in life, some of the hardest lessons and moments we face require us asking for help.
Asking for help is deeply humbling, but if we are on the planet long enough, chances are, we will ALL have to learn this lesson at some point.
Today I am reaching out for a dear friend, colleague, and an amazing human being who needs our support and love as she walks through one of the most challenging journey's anyone can walk through - healing breast cancer.
Dr Susan Miller is a chiropractor, clinical nutritionist and a bright light in this world. Her knowledge and gifts have helped so many - including me on my own healing journey with breast cancer, and it's now our chance to give back and help HER.
In 2016 Susan went through a devastating breakup of a 15-year relationship and the next month learned she had breast cancer. She opted to use some integrative tools to heal as she tried to find a new normal in her life. Susan had lost her home and was starting over and needed to heal both physically and emotionally.
Susan worked on various breast cancer treatment plans while she tried to continue her practice and balance taking care of herself and healing, but the cancer continued to grow. She was proactive - but her body was not responding and she chose to have a bilateral mastectomy surgery the beginning of 2019. The surgery was successful and she consulted with some new doctors and they discussed new treatment options.
Susan had to wait for better insurance, which sadly, happens much too often in our world today. By the summer of 2019 Susan could see some new growth was happening. By fall, she began to have severe pain and lymphedema and chose to diversify her treatment options.
In December Susan flew to Florida to be with her mother, who had fractured her hip and was in hospice; her mother passed shortly thereafter. While still in Florida, Susan's pain level and immobility became so bad, she couldn't return back to her home in Maine and remains in Florida with her sister and brother-in-law. She had a biopsy that showed the cancer had returned. She has had to stop working and has been forced to close her practice in Maine. She is unable to fly or cook for herself at the moment and so she will be staying in Florida for treatments and to continue to heal. Susan still has all her belongings stranded in Maine and needs to close down her rental there, but hasn't been able to.
Susan has also been an emotional support for her other sister in North Carolina who has stage 4 colon cancer.
At this point, Susan has exhausted all of her finances and her livelihood and needs help to continue treatments. She is looking into all options to heal and has found a supportive team of doctors to help her navigate the best treatment options. She is currently struggling to find insurance and is applying for services, but she needs to start some treatment options as soon as possible. We know Susan is at a stage 3 or 4 status, and are waiting for some testing to come back to assess the new situation.
Susan will use the money raised here to pay for her Integrative Oncologist and medical team fees, to help cover labs and testing that are not covered by insurance, and to purchase vital supplements and medications that are not covered by insurance.
Unless you have walked through healing cancer yourself, or watched a loved-one have to - it's hard to explain the overwhelm, the financial devastation, and the ongoing needs. Honestly people just don't comprehend the devastation it creates in its wake. I've been there myself. A Cancer diagnoses bankrupts over HALF of those that have been diagnosed and for the others, it often leaves their life savings gone, homes lost, and emotionally raw from the upheaval it creates in literally every area of your life. It shouldn't be this way in a world with so many tools available to battle this disease, but it is. Cancer is also an ONGOING, LONG-TERM journey that requires help, a call to muster courage we didn't know we had, and to access reserves from every are area of our lives and our families.
The amazing thing is, we DO have some incredible tools to help heal cancer in our world today - but they all require money. It has been shown that using an integrative approach to treat and heal cancer offers the best outcomes. However, the integrative tools (and many of the conventional ones), are either not covered or are not 'fully' covered by insurance. The reality is, cancer is extremely expensive, even with the best of insurances and very few people are in a position to weather the storm without help. Maybe one day it won't be that way, but it is today.
Susan is in a GREAT place to heal and can now focus on taking care of herself, but she needs our help to access the treatment options needed. Susan has devoted much of her life and time to helping others in their healing journeys and now needs our help.
Please consider donating and sharing. Everything helps. She has more work to do on this earth and we need her here to do it.
With much gratitude and love!
