Healing Zeke Lassiter

On Wednesday June 27th, our dear friend Zeke had a horrible accident falling nearly 100' from a bridge. Miraculously, Zeke landed on the ground directly on his feet and not only survived but escaped with no organ damage, spinal damage or cerebral/cognitive issues. However, his lower body sustained incredible damage - shattered knees, crushed femur, 90% of bones in feet fractured. Also, significant lacerations, surface wounds and other things you'd expect if you fell 100' and hit the ground.
The road to recovery for Zeke is long and will require significant resources. There are short term emergency style needs, and longer term psychological and rehabilitative needs. The family is getting excellent medical care at the moment and has insurance for some of the massive medical bills.
Zeke is 16 years old and the sweetest kid. His Dad, James, is an employee of mine at Peace Vans - a VW Camper shop in Seattle. I've had the pleasure of getting to know Zeke over the past few years and have always been impressed by his positive energy, sweet demeanor and kind soul. James (aka "The Jimmer") is part of the heart and soul of Peace Vans. We love James and Zeke like our own family (and Zeke's mom -Brenna - and brother and sister - Gabe and Ruby). James is always there for everyone in the shop, for our customers, for the animals in his life and shows up in the world in myriad big and small ways. When this news hit, we were all devastated and unsure what to do. We have given James as much paid time off as he needs to care for his son and the rest of his family, but the family urgently needs a lot more to transition through this time and get to a more stable place
We are trying to raise $6,500. This money is specifically targeted to support James and Brenna so they can support their family without fear of catastrophic financial burdens from trying to lead with their hearts. To allow them to dedicate themselves to be parents when their kids need them the most.
The money will allow James and Brenna breathing room to be present of Zeke, to help Gabe and Ruby and to care for themselves a bit in this very, very hard time. Brenna lives far away from Harborview where Zeke is posted up for a long batch of surgeries (9 in all) and this money will help her manage those distances.
These parents deserve a bit of breathing room as they support their amazing son on the road to recovery.
Thank You!
