On April 5th, 2016 my husband was officially diagnosed with CLL, Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia.
What is CLL
He is currently in the early stages. We were devestated to learn from the oncologist that there is no cure for this form of leukemia. In fact, we were advised to "go home, live like you dont have cancer and when your more advanced and your symptoms are begining to severely negatively effect your life, we will begin chemotherapy treatments." We were further told that any treatment they do for him will only slow the disease and that eventually...the disease will build a resistance to all conventional treatment. He offered no further options.
This was clearly not a proactive enough stance for us, so we reached out to the world for guidance.
There have been many many patients with CLL that have survived many years after diagnosis, without treatment and most of them have this in common...
Alternative therapies, nutrition, herbalism, naturopathy, frequent blood monitoring and THE most progressive conventional treatment available. In conjunction these actions have been successful at keeping many peoples CLL in check for as many as 15 years.
Our plan is to seek out the best in alternative therapies and find an oncologist that is progressive and kind give us the kind of hope that I know is out there.
We are fortunate in that this disease is slow to progress, however, what that means is that we may be facing many years of medical costs, from alternative therapies to optimal nutrition, from transportation costs to insurance deducatables and missed work.
I am sharing our plan with you because I would like to ask a favor of you...
This all poses a very serious financial impact to us. We just can't do this without your help. Please join us in our journey of hope for our future and for the future of all those that suffer from CLL. We plan to share our story online as a resource for others in our position.
Those that know Steve would agree that he has brought inspiriation, love laughter, and wisdom to the hearts of many. With your help, he could live to enjoy many many more years of vitality on this planet.
Please give what you can, anything will help and if you can not give then share our story with those that may be able to. Love, Light and Bright Blessings all.
With Gratitude,
Megan Flanagan Henslee
