HEALTH CRISIS
Hi Everyone,
Thanks for taking a moment to hear our story! We appreciate the time you will spend learning more about our crisis.
In 2012 we discovered (through professional bore testing) that we had a big time mold problem in our home. After struggling with chronic illnesses, we were convinced mold might be the culprit, and after extensive testing, our hypothesis was proven correct. So began a long journey to the road of recovery.
To make a long story as short as possible (you can view the attached YouTube link for full story), after multiple contacts with our insurance agent and the state insurance bureau, we found no financial assistance to help us eradicate the mold from our home. Because of the amount of mortgage still owed on the home, walking away was not an option. And, of course, the home could not be sold in the condition it was in. The only option for us was to demolish and rebuild WHILE CONTINUING to live in the middle of our mess.
In January 2013 the first demolition occurred. We began the long process by riping out the fireplace that had some leaking and was incubating mold inside. Soon after began the real demolition of windows, walls, and ceiling. The process has been long, tedious, and expensive.
Our health issues were improving but not totally gone. It was discovered we had issues of mold inside of the ducts of our air conditioning system (a duct system that was 30 years +). The only option was to remove the old duct system and instal a new one as professional cleaning did not resolve the issue.
We are at a point now where our credit cards are maxed out and our credit is devasted to the point of making it impossible for us to get new loans. We have acquired hospital and health care bills due to mold related issues that we are unable to pay. In our home we are still without beds for the kids (they are using air mattresses), flooring, skirting for the mobile home (which is necessary to keep animals from destroying the new duct system), paint, etc.
We could really use your help. It is not within our comfort zone to ask people for financial assistance, but, a crisis such as this one demands we step outside of our comfort zone and make our needs known.
