Health Insurance Innovations Executive Team & CEO Announce 50-Mile Charity Bike Ride in Tampa

Health Insurance Innovations is proud to announce its second-annual charity bike ride coming to Tampa on Thursday, April 11th.

Named the Florida Fifty, the 50-mile ride will take cyclists from St. Pete to Brandon on a scenic route through the greater Tampa Bay area

Much like their 2018 charity ride from London, a team of Health Insurance Innovation's executives led by CEO Gavin Southwell will hit the road in hopes of raising money for children charities: Bliss and St. Joseph's Children's Hospital

Bliss is a longstanding charity focused on giving premature and sick babies the best chance of survival and quality of life.
One of its key areas of work is research and Bliss is proud to be funding a pioneering project which aims to understand and reduce pain in premature babies . The goal is to find accurate and reliable ways to measure babies' pain, and then use parental touch to reduce pain, so that we can ensure every baby's journey in neonatal care is as painless as possible.

The average baby in neonatal care has around 10 medical procedures each day. Extremely premature babies, those born between 24 and 28 weeks gestation, can have up to 50 painful procedures every day.

The Pediatric Neuroimaging research team from the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Oxford will receive a grant from Bliss, over three years, to fund this project which seeks to improve the measurement and treatment of pain in premature babies . The results of this project have the potential to benefit babies across the globe.

Caroline Lee-Davey, Chief Executive at Bliss
”At Bliss we are committed to working with individuals and organizations to deliver innovations in research and practice that can save vulnerable babies’ lives, improve their long-term quality of life and raise standards of care. We are currently supporting £8.1 million of research in neonatal care , which wouldn’t be possible without our generous supporters.”

St. Joseph's Children's Hospital is a leader in cancer and pediatric heart care for children in Tampa Bay.  With 80 pediatric physician specialists representing 25 medical and surgical disciplines, the staff offers the care St. Joseph's Children's Hospital is known for.

Parents have the confidence of knowing that the specialized pediatric services offered are further strengthened by St. Joseph's Hospital full-service medical center, including the 24-hour Steinbrenner Emergency/Trauma Center for Children.

St. Joseph's Children's Hospital is proud to offer specialized in-patient and outpatient pediatric care to children and their families in multiple locations throughout west central Florida.

HIIQ currently has a fundraising goal of $50,000. If you’d like to donate to either of these causes and help us reach our goal, it'd be greatly appreciated and you can do so here.
