Healthcare for the Siona of Cuyabeno Ecuador
Tax deductible
The Siona people are an indigenous community living in the Ecuadorian Amazon and Putumayo Department of Colombia. Today, there may be fewer than 500 Siona people on the planet! Most Ecuadorian Siona live in the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve in the Amazonian province of Sucumbios.
Our Wichana Foundation medical trips in November 2021, March 2022, November 2022 and August 2023 to assist the Siona people in the Cuyabeno area of the rainforest were very successful. On our third visit, we brought an expanded medical team, including a physical therapist and a portable dental unit. We also brought small water filtration systems to help reduce the widespread intestinal parasites problem in the Cuyabeno communities. We are now planning our fifth medical brigade visit to take place in August 2023 and need additional donations of approximately $3,000 - 4,000 to make it happen.
Wichana is also paying nursing school and related expenses for a team member from one of the Siona villages who is committed to providing healthcare to the Siona nation.
This Wichana Foundation campaign will raise funds to make the April 2024 visit possible and for medicines that the patients in these indigenous communities can't afford. Can you please open your heart one more time to help a precious endangered culture and people survive? Donations to Wichana are tax-deductible in the US.
