Hear Me Roar - Lissencephaly Awareness and Support
Donation protected

A good friend and coworker from our York Hospital family could use our help. Alma Reloj-Smart is an MA at our walk- in facility in Kittery. She is a kind and caring bright light here at York Hospital and we adore her.
Alma and her husband Andrew were married last August. They had the world by the tail. They welcomed their beautiful baby boy Kenneth Andrew into the world on February 12. He is so incredibly beautiful with eyes that melt your heart.

Recently Kenny developed seizures. It was discovered that Kenny has a very rare condition called Lissencephaly, which is a gene-linked brain malformation. There are many unknowns for this beautiful little family and Kenny is now receiving treatments to keep the seizures under control. Please take a moment to read about this condition. All of us can only imagine how scary and heart-wrenching this must be.

At the present time, there is talk of a feeding tube, as Kenny is not feeding well with multiple episodes of reflux causing nutritional loss. Obviously, there are future treatments and procedures for Kenny on the horizon and many unknowns.
Our goal is to help Alma be able to stay home with Kenny and provide the love and care only a Mom and Dad can provide. Our hope is to remove the financial weight off their shoulders so they can focus on loving and caring for their sweet baby boy.
This little family needs our help. It takes a Village … lets be their Village.

Thank you.
