Hearing aid for my birthday
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
I just had my birthday, and I want to thank you for all the wonderful wishes and photos from over the years.
This year, I decided not to have a big celebration but to ask for a little support.
I planned to go to Europe to see my family, whom I haven't seen in over five years, including my brother, whom I haven't seen in more than ten!
Unfortunately, with the high costs of visiting three different countries and some new expenses, things have changed.
After a recent audiologist visit, it's highly recommended that I use a hearing aid.
My speech recognition test for my right ear didn't go well because I only hear certain letters, which often leads to confusion, social anxiety, and fatigue.
As you can see in the video of my quorum , my right ear has significant hearing loss, particularly at frequencies responsible for certain letters. I also have asymmetric high-frequency hearing loss, which complicates things.
There are many hearing aids available, but the one recommended to me is a newer generation model. It has a tinnitus masking program and helps reduce high frequency background noises .
Although the government can subsidize part of the cost, this doesn't apply to all devices, especially the newer ones. I'm currently testing this one, which is quite discreet. The official price ranges from $3,000 to $5,000, and prices go up from there .
As a few friends suggested, I set up a GoFundMe page instead of recieving birthday gifts.
The go fund me goal is temporarily, as the final cost isn't determined yet. I’ll adjust it after my next appointment when I have more information and decide with a specialist what’s the best fit
So instead of going out for dinner or partying, it would be the best birthday gift if you could help me a little, hopefully making my life easier.
Hearing loss has been separating me from the world over the last couple of years. I hope this can help bridge that gap, especially if it will help me understand you better when we talk!
Every dollar counts. Hopefully, I'll be able to afford the right device for me, and if I'm lucky, any extra will go toward visiting my family in Europe.
Thank you.
