Hearing Aids for Bhante G!

Dear Friends,

I met Bhante G at the Costco Hearing Center in Winchester, VA for a hearing test on October 12th. While reviewing the test results with us, the specialist informed us that Bhante G was indeed, a candidate for hearing aids. Bhante G then agreed to try on the recommended set, a pair of Phillips Hearlink 9040, and to walk around the store to see how they felt. For the first time since using his AirPods as sound amplifiers, Bhante G could hear us clearly without our having to raise our voices. Needless to say, he was very pleased, and so I purchased a pair for him, which will be ready for activation and pick-up on Sat, Oct 28th.

Having lived at Bhavana Society with Bhante G for nearly three years, I came to learn that many other supporters wanted to offer gifts and assistance to the monastery's monastic residents, but often didn't know what their specific needs were. And that's one reason why I decided to inform you, the lay community, of this particular opportunity to contribute to Bhante G's improved hearing and communication. Another reason, is that I thought it would be nice for us to share in the feel-good merits of this special gift for Bhante G.

The hearing aids were: $1,499 and the the Costco renewal membership which enabled us to buy them at this steep discount was: $180. There were some groceries, gas, and will be transaction feeds deducted from the overall amount, so I landed on $1,800 as a target fundraising amount.
