Heart baby Reyson
Donation protected
We waited for what felt like forever to be blessed with a baby. As the years passed, after a few miscarriages and a complicated pregnancy, we finally welcomed our baby boy Reyson. He was perfect in every way and the most beautiful gift God has ever blessed us with. Shortly after birth, we learned he had a rare heart defect that required immediate open heart surgery in order for him to survive-TAPVR (total anomalous pulmonary venous return). We were medically transported to Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego. At 3 wks old he had the surgery and fought thru to a perfect recovery. A few months later we returned home and started our life as a new family.
Here we are today and our little angel is turning 4 months old. Sadly he was just diagnosed with heart failure due to pulmonary stenosis. His pulmonary veins has tightened and it's causing pressure on his lungs making it difficult for him to breathe. After running many tests and consulting his specialists in San Diego, it has been decided that he needs to be medically transported to San Diego again for another surgery. He currently is admitted in Kapiolani Medical Center and will not be discharged before leaving because he needs to be constantly monitored. We will be leaving in the next few days.
Just knowing that our little baby is fighting so hard to live just breaks our heart. All that repeats in my head is please God don't take my little boy. Thru all of this, he continues to smile and laugh. We cherish every moment of it....not knowing if it's the last time we'll get to play with him or hug and kiss him. It's literally tearing us apart. It's taking every bit of strength for us to keep it together and be as strong as Reyson is being.
On another note, he was also born with congenital scoliosis that will need spinal surgery when his heart is healed. It too is a complex surgery that may require us to return to San Diego if the specialist in Hawaii does not feel competent enough to do it.
It has been one thing after another. Our little boy has been so brave and so strong. I currently have no paid approved leave at work since I was out so long for the first surgery. It's been hard for Rey to work since all his time is spent trying to spend every moment with Reyson. I don't know if I'll even be able to return to work since it will depend on his condition. All of your thoughts and prayers have meant the world to us and any donation will be forever remembered. Thank you♡
