Help with Heart Surgery for Lily Morel
Donation protected
Hello friends,
In November 2018, we took our daughter Lily (4) to the pediatrician because she had a cough. It turns out she had bronchitis, but that wasn’t all. When the pediatrician listened to Lily’s heart, she heard a large murmur and suggested we take Lily to the pediatrician/cardiologist that comes to town every 2 weeks. The following weekend the cardiologist was in town and we took Lily in to get checked out.
The cardiologist found that Lily has a PDA, Patent Ductus Arteriosus, which is hole in her heart that failed to close at birth. Once the doctor diagnosed her, she said for us to take Lily to the States for it to be corrected. There is a way of closing it by going in via catheter, instead of open-heart surgery. However, this procedure is not recommended or done here in Honduras.
Thus, begins our journey. Most of you know that we are in the process of getting Allan’s residency papers for him to be able to travel to the States. Because we are facing a medical issue, there is a way for us to expedite this process. We are in the final stages of gathering the last few papers needed for him to receive his interview date. However, there are several extra expenses that we didn’t foresee. But we are hopeful that once we get these last 2 papers, things will move forward quickly, and Allan will be able to travel to the States.
The plan now is for the kids and I to travel to the States before Allan to start the processes in the States such as applying for Medicaid, find a doctor, find a vehicle...etc. I plan to travel the beginning of February. We have found an affordable camper trailer to live in near my Mother while we are in the States. Once we are there, we will also be looking for a vehicle for us to use. We pray that Allan will be able to join us quickly.
There are many unknowns for us still. We don’t have a doctor in the States yet, nor do we have any health insurance. We are also not 100% that Allan will be able to join us in the States. We don’t know how long we will have to be in the States, or who will take care of our house in Honduras if Allan can come. But we know that our God is faithful, and he will provide and meet all our needs! We trust and rely on Him to guide us in this new season of life.
We wanted to give people the opportunity to help if they can. Any amount will help tremendously. We are looking at extra expenses concerning Allan’s papers (expedite fee, 2 background checks, and required medical fees) that we did not know about. As well as having to purchase 3 possibly 4 plane tickets and possibly purchasing a vehicle to drive while in the States. If God places it on your heart to give, we would be greatly humbled and appreciative.
If you have any question at all, concerning anything, please feel free to send us an email or message!
