Heart to Heart: NSB Class of 2022 Benefit Concert

Donation protected
Every year, NYU's New Studio on Broadway Sophomore class puts together a benefit concert for the charity of their choosing... and this year's concert hits especially close to home. This year, the NSB Class of 2022 has chosen to do their concert for The Maddog Strong Foundation, a charity created in honor of current NSB Sophomore Sam Grobmeier’s sister, who unexpectedly passed away from a fatal asthma attack this summer.

The Maddog Strong Foundation, A 501(c)(3) charity that promotes awareness and education for organ and tissue donation registry among teens and their families, was created in the spirit of Maddie “Maddog” Grobmeier who passed away unexpectedly from an asthma attack the day after her 18th birthday this summer. Only three months before she died, Maddie miraculously walked away with just a few bumps and bruises from a very serious car accident… that accident inspired her to sit down and have a conversation with her parents about organ donation. “If something like this ever happens to me again and I don’t make it,” she said, “promise me that you’ll donate my organs so that something good can come from tragedy.” On June 30, 2019, the Grobmeier family respected Maddie’s wishes, fulfilling her charitable and selfless request to be an organ donor. Maddie inspired many by donating her organs and tissues so that others could live on to do amazing things for the world. By creating the Maddog Strong Foundation, the Grobmeier family plans to continue telling Maddog’s story, inspiring other teens to have that conversation about organ and tissue donation.

The NSB Class of 2022 has come together to raise money and awareness for a cause that is very near to our hearts through what we love most: performing. As a class, we have to find a venue, book musicians, schedule rehearsals, budget, rent equipment, promote, and all-together make the night amazing for our guests. Some of the funding that we raise here will go towards putting on the show, but we are especially proud to dedicate our performance and donate all profits to The Maddog Strong Foundation. We would appreciate any support you could give to make this night possible and to support such an important cause in this world and that has impacted our NSB family. Thank you so much!

The concert will be held on Saturday December 14th at University Settlement (184 Eldridge St in New York)! Our 1:00pm show will feature Red and Blue Groups and our 6:00pm show will feature Yellow and Green Groups!
