Heart Transplant Living Expenses for Cody Kubu
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Molly Pluger, and I'm fundraising for medical bills and living expenses for Cody Kubu while he navigates getting a heart transplant. I've worked and been friends with Cody for seven years or so, and as the Haus Mom, I talked him into letting me set this up for him. He isn't one to ask for handouts, but the financial aspects of all of this are starting to become a source of stress. The timeline for him getting on the transplant list was recently pushed up by six months, so it is time to start preparing. A heart transplant gives a person enough to deal with physically and mentally. Let's help take money off the list of things for him to worry about. Cody has a great support network, but the expense of a heart transplant is astronomical, and the recovery will be a long process. He is hopeful that insurance will cover most of the medical bills, so this fund will be used to help cover his existing medical bills, living expenses, and incidentals while he is unable to work. This GoFundMe will remain active until Cody no longer needs assistance, so please donate anytime you have a few extra bucks; every little bit helps.
Below is a brief synopsis of Cody's heart issues from the Man himself:
So after being a pretty healthy, active kid most my life, at 21, I suffered a stroke and blood clot and was hospitalized. The doctors discovered a rare congenital heart condition called left ventricular non-compaction. They don't know much about this condition of cause it's pretty rare, but basically, when my heart was being formed in the womb, it was formed with extra tissue that affects heart function and proper blood flow and squeeze. It just wasn't made to sustain life like a normal heart. So since my diagnosis, I have been on a long road of maintenance, medications, and implanted devices such as my pacemaker/defribulator. Unfortunately, this condition is non-reversible and my heart condition has progressed. My symptoms have worsened to the point where I can finally get put on a transplant list and have a chance at living and feeling well again. So yeah, it's been like 14 years of dealing with this. Transplants usually run around 1 million dollars. And while working less already, after the transplant I will have three months of 24-hour round-the-clock care and months of recovery, physical therapy and cardiac rehab after that. Venmo is @Cody-Kubu if you prefer to donate directly.
Thank you for your time and generosity.
