Heart Transplant Fundraising for Manoela

Greetings, everyone,

I am Manoela Vieira, a 45-year-old woman, and proud mother of three beautiful girls. Our home is in Novato, California. In 2019, I faced a life-altering event when I suffered a heart attack and cardiac arrest, leading to a 17-day induced coma. Miraculously, I managed to recover from that difficult ordeal.

However, the challenges did not end there. At the beginning of 2021, I received the diagnosis of heart failure, and the doctors informed me that my life expectancy was just five years. This news was undoubtedly a trying moment for both my family and myself.

Then, in September 2021, I experienced another setback when one of my arteries became blocked, necessitating the placement of another stent. Unfortunately, my heart failure worsened during this period.

Yet, amidst these hardships, there came a glimmer of hope. The skilled and caring team of doctors at UCSF approved me for a heart transplant, which has given my family and me renewed optimism for the future.

While the prospect of a heart transplant brings hope, it also brings concerns, I haven't been able to work for almost 2 years now. Before I was the primary provider for my family, and this journey will require us to cover various expenses such as medication, housing, transportation, medical co-payments, and at least six months during which I won't be able to work.

Thus, I am reaching out to all the kind-hearted souls out there, seeking your support in raising the necessary funds to face this challenging chapter in my life.
