Heartbreaking loss of Marcus Yeo

Donation protected
Hi we are Hannah and Lauren the sisters of Chevonne Collins.

It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we share the devastating news of the passing of a loving Fiancé, Dad, Son, Brother, Uncle and Friend to many, Marcus Yeo 02/10/1974 - 10/11/2023

One of Marcus’s extraordinary gifts was to teach others to love hard, despite battling, like many, with internal struggles that sadly led to his untimely departure through suicide. A young family torn apart by grief, we can only begin to imagine the difficulties Chevonne now faces, along with navigating her immense pain and personal loss, as she tries to create memories to ensure their 2 year old son grows up to remember what a hero his Dad truly was.

We mention the word hero as he was an organ donor, giving a second chance of life to many and even being able to give someone their eye-sight back so that they could see the world and their loved ones again. Despite the heartache and long process, Chevonne was able to grant Marcus his last wish of organ donation, a selfless act that so many families have difficulty coping with when the time comes.

We think everyone can understand that as a family they are going to have a long challenging road ahead, coping with the reality of life without the love and support of Marcus and especially as Marcus was the primary breadwinner for his family.

So we are reaching out to our community, family, friends and anyone touched by Marcus’s presence to help provide this family with the support they need going forward. With your generosity, we hope to ease the financial burden that lays ahead of Chevonne. All funds raised will go towards family counselling and immediate living expenses, in the hope that we can support her as she begins to rebuild her life and endeavours to make ends meet.  A financial donation, however big or small will have an enormous impact in helping this young family navigate through the tough journey that lies ahead.

Lastly, the family appreciate your support, thoughts and prayers. The love and support shown to Chevonne and the family during this unimaginably difficult time means so much. Together, let us honour Marcus’s memory and become advocates for compassion and empathy towards those facing mental health battles. We also bring light on the suicide epidemic, such a permanent decision, often made as a result of a temporary problem, that has a lifelong devastating ripple effect on all loved ones left behind.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read such a devastating story and thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your love and support.
