Heartbreaking sudden passing of my Mum

My name is Nesta but many of you may know me as Nina,

With immense sadness, I share the heartbreaking news of my beloved mother, Patricia ‘Yolande’ Topper , who passed away suddenly to pancreatic cancer. Her sudden passing was the devastating result of diagnostic overshadowing, where her symptoms were overlooked or misattributed Due to her mental health conditions. My mum attended the A+E in June suffering from abdominal pain and she was told by a doctor it’s simply just a side effect of her medications and was sent home with laxatives. One month later she returned to the hospital as the symptoms worsened at which stage was then diagnosed with pancreatic cancer with no treatment options available and passed away 3 weeks later. This tragic oversight cost me and my 6 siblings precious time and ultimately her life.

Our mother was an incredibly strong woman who dedicated her life to raising her 7 children with love, strength, and kindness despite her struggles with mental health she made me who I am today and I owe her everything. My mum was strong, as am I.

As my Mums Next of kin, I carry not only deep grief but also the responsibility of funeral arrangements, shouldering the financial burden alone. Left with no choice but to leave my job to manage everything since her passing.

I humbly ask for your support to help us cover the costs of her funeral and outstanding bills.
