Heartland Orphanage Uganda

Hi, my name is Reiner Jama the funder of Heartland children’s community-based organization Mityana.

I was born an orphan in Miyana. The Orphanage I was raised in ended, and everyone had to find their own way of surviving. It was hard surviving on the streets, homeless, and hopeless back in those days, but I had a believed

Jesus Christ was with me all along; I never stopped praying to the Lord to

cover me with his grace. My dream was to start a small helping center for

orphans in any community.

Then a few years later, I was sleeping down on the streets, day by day,

holding a poster of please help me to get me a job, I can do housework and much more. A farmer came after me and asked me if I could help him in the gardens he owned, and I will be paid some money like 5,000 Schillings per month, which is a very small amount in Uganda. Trust me hearing this made me proud, and I went down on my knees and thanked him so much for the offer; the Lord had answered my prayers. It was unbelievable at that

moment.

The farmer took me in on his farm, gave me a job, and rented me a

house. He taught me everything about farming. One day I decided to rent

some land to start up my own garden where I could get something to eat

and have some money for a living. I never stopped praying day by day.

One day I was heading into town going to buy some fertilizers, and I found a street kid beside the road, he asked me for something to eat, but at that moment, this drove my mind back to days when I was just like him. I felt the Holy Spirit telling me you can do better than giving him money or food; you can stay with him and provide anything he needs. But I kept asking myself

how would we survive the two of us? I am alone and can't take care of

myself, and now I have a kid; we won't survive. Again, I knew that was a

negative attitude the devil wanted to leave this young poor kid on the

streets; I told myself if I managed to grow up all this time and survive, that meant God has been with me all along and he will always be with me

always

At the moment I asked him about his parents, and he said he had no one in his life, he said he was alone, no one to care for him. I picked him up and

went straight where I was sleeping, and I took care of care of him, so I

knew it wasn't difficult at all. It was fun having him with me sharing

different things together. God was with me always in everything and I never stopped praying and thanking him every day.

I went for registration as an Orphanage so I could be with many more

children legally and had some friends that helped me with the process and

that's how I started with one kid. Praise God.
