Heart of Perception - Miksang

This is a fundraiser for Nalanda Miksang's second volume of teachings, Heart of Perception, Way of Seeing Volume II.

In 2015, we raised funds through our teachers to publish the first volume of Nalanda Miksang Contemplative Photography teachings: Looking and Seeing, Level I. This volume met with great success, sparking online courses through Shambhala Online, active Facebook and Flickr communities, and an ability for people to be able to go deep with Nalanda Miksang in countries as far apart as Sweden, Australia and Russia.

We come to you now in a more public way to raise funds for our second volume: Heart of Perception. This volume covers the Level II teachings. In the same way that the Volume I book really allowed for a depth not possible in weekend courses, Volume II goes even deeper into the heart of Miksang and perception itself. Assignments such as Flowers and Weeds, Impressionism, Ordinary Personal World, and People and Other Sentient Beings stand alongside deep contemplations on the nature of perception, exercises from Shambhala Art and teachings from important Buddhist masters.

We need your support. In order to publish this volume, we need $5000. This covers the cost of editing, graphic design, advertising, and printing. We are using a print-on-demand service, similar to the first volume, to keep costs low. Our income for the titles is low - $5 per copy - so we can deliver a full-color gorgeous book to you.

We aim to publish this book by September 2016. This means we need full funds by May 1, 2016. Currently the authors (us), John McQuade and Miriam Hall, are in our own revision states. Next comes permissions for quotes, design and layout of photos and cover, and the many stages of revision and editing with external editors.

The outpouring of support for Volume I - both in fundraising and after publication - stupified us. Humans can be so generous. We ask of you if you are inspired by the Miksang teachings to donate even a small amount. $20 means something. It means a lot.

Thank you from the bottom - and top - of our hearts,
John McQuade and Miriam Hall
