Hearts in Bloom Buffalo - Widows Outreach Program

Hi, I’m Catherine Szabad and I’m excited to tell you about a new program I am kicking off in 2024. The program is called Hearts in Bloom Buffalo and is focused on brightening Valentines Day for Widows and Widowers.

I discovered the Valentines Day Widows Outreach project, started by Ashley Manning in Charlotte North Carolina, on social media . After reaching out to Ashley to discuss her project I was inspired to start a similar outreach program in the Buffalo area, starting off in Wheatfield, North Tonawanda, Tonawanda, Kenmore and Amherst.

Having lived in Western New York for over over 50 years, I have been blessed with many friends and a large caring family. Through these relationships I have become aware of the heaviness that many widows and widowers experience around Valentines Day. I am happy to say starting in February 2024, I’ll be delivering flower arrangements to widows and widowers who have been nominated by a caring friend or member of their family. This simple act of kindness is sure to brighten what would have been a difficult day. Help me to impact the lives of these widows/widowers through your donation.

These donations will be used to purchase the materials needed for creating a beautiful flower arrangement along with a gift bag filled with items donated and purchased. All will be delivered by volunteers, to nominated widows/widowers, on Valentines Day.
