Hearts in Bloom Buffalo - Widows Outreach Program

Hi, I’m Catherine Szabad and I’m excited to tell you that my non-profit organization Hearts in Bloom Buffalo is focused on brightening Valentine’s Day for Widows and Widowers. Our goal for 2025 is to make deliveries of flowers and gift bags to over 100 recipients on Valentine’s Day!

I discovered the Valentine’s Day Widows Outreach project, started by Ashley Manning in Charlotte North Carolina, on social media . After reaching out to Ashley to discuss her project I was inspired to start a similar outreach program in the Buffalo area.

Having lived in Western New York for over over 50 years, I have been blessed with many friends and a large caring family. Through these relationships I have become aware of the heaviness that many widows and widowers experience around Valentines Day. I am happy to say in February of 2024 we delivered flower arrangements to 41 widows and widowers who were nominated by a caring friend or member of their family.

This simple act of kindness brightened what would have been a difficult day. Help me to continue to impact the lives of these widows/widowers through your donation.

These donations will be used to purchase the materials needed for creating a beautiful flower arrangement along with a gift bag filled with items donated and purchased. All are delivered by volunteers, to nominated recipient's on Valentine’s Day.
