Heather Savoie Family
Heather Adair Austin Savoie of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on March 30, 2021 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. Heather was born in Baton Rouge, LA on December 11, 1969. She is survived by her parents, William "Bill" and Martha H. Austin, husband Michael Savoie and daughters, Elyse Savoie and Ella Savoie, mother-in-law Sandra Savoie, her sister Noelle Hegler, (John "Rusty" Hegler), brother Clint Austin (Mary Austin), sister-in-law Elizabeth Chandler (Jim Chandler Jr.) and nephews Carson Hegler, Sawyer Hegler, Gavin Austin and nieces Madison Austin and Alexandra "Allie" Chandler. Predeceased by her father-in-law James Savoie, her grandparents, Frenchie and Erwin Hattox and Carrie Austin. Heather was a loving, caring daughter, sister, wife and mother to her two beautiful daughters. She was a born teacher, who had a knack for energizing the mundane into extraordinary. Her creativity, thoughtfulness, inclusion, and zest for life made her a magnet of pure joy that her family, friends, colleagues, and students thrived on. She has been described as "a woman of dauntless courage, unending creativity, boundless humor, with incredible love and spirit." She had a way of "recruiting" help on her numerous projects, including her service projects with her church youth group trip to Tennessee, helping with her middle school art class projects, ordering and sewing costumes for her middle school drama production of The Lion King at Northwestern Middle School. Heather went on many UUMC choir trips across the country, first as a member of the choir, under the direction of Mrs. Esther Socolofsky and later as a counselor on these trips. She served as a youth director at the church, worked at YMCA of the Rockies (Snow Mountain Ranch) as a day camp director, & later as an International Hospitality Coordinator in Winter Park, Co. She has most recently been a teacher in the Zachary School System for over 20 years.
Many people have asked how they can offer support to the Savoie family. I have created this fund to assist in making Elyse and Ella’s future a bright one. If you find it in your heart to contribute to this fund, donations will go straight towards the girls college education. Thank you for your kindness, generosity and support.
