Heaux Tales: Black H'or Futurism

Donation protected
My name is Akynos. Founder and Executive Director of The Black Sx Worker Collective (BSWC). A global Black SW formed and led grassroots human rights organization which uses art as activism in a fight for social justice and the liberation for Black people. As an artist I curate showcases alongside political actions with and for The BSWC. One of the regular showcases I curate is Heaux Tales. A performance and storytelling series which highlights the talents of Black SWers. After two years of doing this showcase, we are now on the third theme: Black H'or Futurism. Loosely based off Octavia Butler's Parable Of The Sower, this show will be a 24-hour immersive experience taking place within the minds of Black SWers. With guest performances from those throughout the diaspora and from intersectional herstories with Black SWers, this show promises to highlight through multiple artistic mediums-- the intersection of sx, race, class and technology.

The money earned here will cover operational costs of the production and afford me, the curator, to be paid where I otherwise may not earn a dime. Creating art is my crime of passion. I focus first on paying artists and covering other operational parts of the show such as tech. In order to invite other cast members necessary in bringing this ambitious project to life, we need more financing. Support Black artist in being compensated for their time and work! Allow us the opportunity to do proper promotions which helps to bring this work to life. Our community deserves it.

As one of (if not) the ONLY Black SWer formed and led collective in Germany, this is an opportunity to support us in being a continued member of nightlife and art culture in a country where we are often forgotten.

Little Woman, BIG HAIR Productions is thrilled to continue their collaboration with The Black Sex Worker Collective (BSWC) in the 2024 theme for the ongoing performance and storytelling series Heaux Tales with the latest socially engaged theatrical performance project theme: Black H'or Futurism. Part of the ongoing campaign for visibility, inclusion, the DEcriminalization of bodies and financial stability for The Black Sex Worker Collective - Berlin, this year’s theme is loosely inspired by Octavia Butler's speculative fiction novel "Parable of the Sower."
Black H'or Futurism is a groundbreaking performance that delves into the sexual creative energies of Black Sex Workers in the fight for environmental justice, land rights, and labor rights with the backdrop of technology. In fragments, this production encourages the reimagining and reclamation of the displaced bodies and minds of those forced to the margins by social inequalities.
In over 24 hours of interdisciplinary and intersectional artistry, attendees enter the irresistible imagination of the central operating mind of a sleeping Black Sex Worker, portrayed by artist MF Akynos. Where in her dreamscape, a world unfolds fragmented dreams and false awakenings that explore the morbid realities, joy, and resilience within queer and migrant communities. Here, we find our roots in Afro futurism and African parables. Where our perception of darkness is challenged, the ancestors come to life, technology has greatly advanced, and onlookers access the transformative idea that sex work is part of our human future and that theories and practices of sex work developed by Sex Workers are essential in melding technologies, global Black experiences, and paths for radical tomorrows.
Black H’or Futurism is profane, dirty, transgressive, posits future worlds built by and reflecting the experiences of people of African descent. Excerpts of the show will incorporate music, rest & rehabilitation and food. Commencing on October 6 through 7, the experience takes place at Berlin's own transformative artistic space, 90 Mil. A bevy of surprise guest artists will interpolate intersectional art within the conceptual dreamscape of creator and BSWC executive director, The Incredible, Edible, Akynos, alongside original performances and stories by BSWC-Berlin members: Serene X, Queenie Starr, and Visage. With special guest performances by Martini Cherry Furter, Savannah Morgan, Angel Maxine and Exocee. creates the brain art piece for the production. Other guest artists will be announced leading up to the event date. Sculpting and performance artist GodXXX Noirphiles creates the brain art piece for the production.
