Heavy Metal Animal Sanctuary is a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation located in Fairmount, Georgia. The mission of Heavy Metal Animal Sanctuary is to provide a loving and safe environment for all of its rescues. Heavy Metal Animal Sanctuary was established in 2020 by Sheree Burdette, an animal lover with a passion for animal welfare, who wants to be the voice for those who can't speak for themselves. Growing up with horses and other animals, Sheree learned to care for and love all animals, and she dreamed she would one day #RescueAllTheAnimals.
The sanctuary currently cares for 2 horses, 2 donkeys, 4 mini donkeys, chickens, cats, and dogs! Please consider donating to support these animals and to help the sanctuary with wintertime hay, feed costs, barn and fence upgrades, vet bills, farrier bills, and property upkeep needs.
Heavy Metal Animal Sanctuary welcomed its first rescue horse in June 2023 and its second rescue horse shortly after in July. Scarlett, a gentle-natured Belgium mare, was rescued from being sent to the auction to be slaughtered. Dixie, a spunky quarter horse, needed a retirement home where she could live out her life in peace and happiness. Both horses have made new friends with the donkeys and chickens, and they are enjoying being well-loved and taken care of at Heavy Metal Animal Sanctuary.
To learn more about each animal's rescue story and to follow the sanctuary's growth, check out their website and follow them on instagram and facebook! http://heavymetalanimalsanctuary.com/.
