THANK YOU! I DONATED THANKS TO YOU 1 300 COPIES OF BOOK TO UKRAINIAN CHILDREN :)

Thank you to All of you for trust and support. Thanks to you we make it. This + another fundraiser and support of few organisations enable me to give almost 1.4 thousand books for Ukrainian children as a gift for Children's Day. The books were donated through organizations helping children, including 4Ukraine Association, Rodina Ukrainian School in London, Prague Association See the Heart and Bookmark Reading foundation. Books went to children in care facilities and psychological counselling centers in Poland, as well as schools, shelters in Ukraine, England, and France. I would like to hear from other organisations, institutions or companies that would be interested in purchasing the book to pass it on to more children. My dream is that the book will reach as many Ukrainian children as possible worldwide and bring a smile to their faces. My email: [email redacted]

ABOUT THE PROJECT HECTOR AND FRIENDS FOR UKRAINE

Print& give away free copy to kids of a Ukrainian edition of my first book, "Hector, A Dog’s Story", is a response to the needs of Ukrainian children who faced the crisis of the war. The main character of the book, puppy Hector, who also struggles with the reality of war, can help children cope with trauma. The idea of publishing the book in Ukrainian was born out of the heart's need and providing emotional support for the youngest in this difficult time.

I would like to print and give the book to every child in need free of charge (Nearly 1 Million Child Refugees Have Fled Ukraine). I need financial support for print of books. Additionally, the electronic version will be available on my website: https://www.hectorandfriends.com/.

The books will be donated through organizations helping children, which I invite to contact me directly: [email redacted]

The book is to detach them, even for a moment, from the terrible reality that dominates their thinking and perception of the world. Hector the dog, who is the main character of the book, can be a good partner for a child in exploring the world and dealing with difficult emotions. Hector is a dog full of energy and curious about the world, who also struggles with the reality of war.

Children can identify with him easily, and he can help them get a different perspective on what seems difficult or insurmountable. The story of Hector's dog proves that hope never dies and that happiness awaits every child somewhere on earth.

Hector, A Dog’s Story a heart-warming journey through the eyes of the dog through which young people can explore the themes of empathy loss friendship and hope. We have really enjoyed working with Renata and sharing the story with him our networks within the primary school setting it has been universally well received and has been used alongside a dog mentoring project to support young people’s wellbeing. The special edition of Hector, A Dog’s Story is an insightful way to support and entertain young people who may be experiencing similar challenges as those dealt with by the story and for wider audiences in celebrating the love and joy our canine companions bring into our lives .

ABOUT AUTHOR & BOOK HECTOR, A DOG’S STORY:

In a nutshell, it is a story about a love of friendship and a puppy named Hector, looking for happiness against grey reality of the Second World War. It is a story that proves that hope never dies and that happiness awaits everyone. It also breaks down the taboo of difficult topics in children's literature, incl. war, death, god, loss, abandonment etc.

Although the book was published with my own contribution, I managed to gather readers in over 16 countries on 5 continents.
I also run workshops with children in English and Polish schools that develop empathy. Hector, A Dog’s Story is included in a mentoring program under the patronage of Westminster Children's University , London.

Book was featured in UK's Dog Magazine, Westminster Children's University, Robin Age, Australian Dog Lover and few more.

The colorful illustrations were designed by the Indonesian illustrator Irfan Budi Harjo, and the editorial staff was supervised by the famous American editor of books for children - Mary Kole. The book is patronaged by 11 organizations, including 7 charity foundations.

The book is available in 16 libraries in Poland and England.

Hector's story is punctuated with the joy and sadness of life, his gentle and questioning nature throughout the narrative helps readers explore his experiences and reflect along with him as they happen.

Hector's story is a great tool for the gentle exploration of difficult themes through a third party, as well as being a heart-warming tale. At Westminster Children's University we have seen first-hand the children's reactions to the story and the self-reflective comments it has elicited. The children have universally enjoyed and engaged with Hector and his journey.

The story of Hector and his friends is read in one breath. I am fascinated by the way this dog is shown, the world of his imagination as if it is so simple and obvious, yet it forces you to reflect. I really like the reference to the war in such a veiled way,
God, ordinary and simple good or an attempt to explain why we sometimes encounter bad things.

I found this book both powerful and beautiful. It raises thought-provoking questions – often quite challenging – that child can ask themselves as they join Hector on his journey. Through a dog’s eyes, they discover that life has both its ups and downs, but through determination and love, everything will be fine.

Renata masterfully makes you alternate between states of sadness and happiness as she takes you through the heart warming tale of a dog whose life is torn between love and loss, hope and despair, in as much the same manner as we undergo the myriad ever-changing emotions in the course of our lives. The book also examines such profound aspects as death, soul, existence, God – apparently, even dogs are riddled by these timeless inquiries.

Zane, father of a loving 8 year old daughter

Heart-warming story about a puppy that faces some challenging moments in life. With children in mind, this book is a great way to teach our precious little humans about some of life’s heartache and the Author subtlety covers a variety of topics well.

I really thought this book was lovely. It was heart warming and I love how the real life lessons of kindness, love and compassion were told through a dogs world. It also has really beautiful illustrations!
