THIS IS URGENT!!

As of May 1st of this year, Our Lady of Peace parish, in Innisfail Alberta, will no longer have a church building in which to worship. The roof structure of the church has deteriorated over the years to the point that it is no longer safe to use the building. If the church cannot come up with the funds to start this large construction project, of replacing the roof and wall structure, the building will be condemned. Approximately, 250 families will be without a permanent place of worship. Help us make this roof replacement project a success!  Please share our challenging situation and request for support to family, friends and fellow believers! Without  a successful church revitalization, the future does not look bright for Our Lady of Peace Parish. 

Backstory
 
We have known that the roof deck of this unique roof structure, has needed a replacement for several years. We have raised the funds to replace the deck, close to $100,000. With further investigation of the roof, and before the roofing company started construction, it was determined that the actual structure of the roof was in jeopardy. We used part of our roof fund to hire contractors to try and fix the roof.

In December, we had a fire in the roof structure that diminished the integrity even more, to the point where the building is to be condemned. Unless we raise the necessary funds, the building will be condemned and the parish closed. This parish has been an integral part of the Innisfail community for decades, serving the needs of Catholics and the community at large. It needs to continue its work.




Current Situation

We have used most of our roof fund to hire engineers and architects to put a proposal together and draw up the new wall and roof structure. With all of the costs incurred, our roof fund has quickly diminished.

If construction is to happen, we also have other areas of the church that will need to be revamped. The hall attached to the sanctuary will be opened up during construction, and will need the ceiling and floors replaced. The mechanical heating and cooling in the building will be updated with the new sanctuary roof, and we would like to put in a future connection for a new heating unit in the hall, to replace the old furnaces that are on their last legs.

How you can make a difference!

In order to complete this project, the small parish of Innisfail will have to come up with an estimated “half a million dollars.” This is a daunting number, that has parishioners concerned that this may be the end of Our Lady of Peace.

If we can get 10,000 Catholics to donate $25 each, we will be half way to our goal!
