A Very Kandi Artist Fundraiser
Donation protected
We launched the Hedkandi fundraiser as a way of producing regular virtual content instead of our worldwide events that can't take place because of COVID19. Our secondary goal was to find a charity or two that we could raise money for
Along the way we have adopted Care 4 Cats as our main charity and raised an additional £1500 for them and also produced an amazing mini documentary that showcases their work.
This Is The Cats Of Ibiza
Since 2000 Care 4 Cats have neutered over 25,000 cats in Ibiza and helped hundreds of sick or injured animals. Before their arrival in 2000 there was no help for stray cats in Ibiza and they were left to live or die on the streets or in the countryside. Their mission is to trap, neuter, and return to the wild as many stray cats as possible. Ibiza based volunteers trap throughout the year and rescue vulnerable cats for fostering and adoption. Their ultimate goal is to fund a premises to convert into their own veterinary clinic with a full time vet – The Eivissa Animal Centre.
All of the above has been achieved while only raising 50% of our target and we are asking for your continued help. Over the next 4 weeks we will be promoting the Virtual Sessions and our Care 4 Cats documentary. Every donation will be split with 50% going directly to Care 4 Cats and 50% going to fund all the artists involved plus additional charity initiatives.
Our initial estimate was we needed £10k to produce 3 events and pay everyone involved. We've raised nearly £5k so far and have actually filmed 10 events. This is largely due to lots of free accommodation, a variety of discounts and most importantly all our artists offering to be last in the queue for any sort of payment.
I’m Mark Doyle, creator of the Hedkandi and Fierce Angel music and club event brands. For over thirty years now I have worked with hundreds of performers, creatives and production companies putting on events worldwide. There have been many ups and downs in the business but I have never experienced anything like the crisis that has faced us in 2020 with COVID19.
At the start of 2020 I was offered the opportunity to take on an exclusive license to present Hedkandi events & radio under a unique deal. This was all completely self funded and the start of the year saw us book of 40 new worldwide events. Unfortunately by the end of March every event was cancelled and we did not expect to be back on a dancefoor before December. The choice was to either put Hedkandi into hibernation or try and find a way to present Hedkandi to it's audience in a new way.
While the rest of the world begins to go back to work there is no light at the end of the tunnel for the thousands of people working in the night time entertainment industry. The option to work further afield is just as problematic with each country experiencing their own problems.
During lockdown, the number of performers and industry professionals who have stepped forward and produced live stream shows to support charities and to raise moral has been incredibly heartening. But now we need to look at how we as an industry can move forward and financially support those that have supported others whilst ensuring the appetite for a new night time economy remains once the madness ends and all of this is behind us.
Which is why we worked hard to produce the very first Hedkandi Garden party broadcast on Sunday July 5th with multiple DJ’s, performers, full production and of course the very best music. It was as close to a real Hedkandi club event as we could make it and was watched by over 50k people. The second, third and fourth events were filmed in Ibiza at three of it's coolest hotels, BeachStar, Paradiso and Santos.
We've proved we can fit and present the content and people are definitely enjoying it. We've taken our initial estimate of £10k for three events and stretched the budget so we can actually produce 10 of them.
If we reach our funding goal it will cover the costs of all the artists involved. The event will also include work from graphic designers, video editors and all the unseen people that bring an event like this to life. Everyone involved are either self employed or micro businesses with little or no access to major funding.
Instead of inviting you to a club and charging you for a ticket, we are offering you a different experience as part of our worldwide community for a far smaller donation with the knowledge that everyone involved will benefit directly.
It is our hope we can continue to create and broadcast content funded by these donations on a regular basis, providing our team and others with some form of income. In the future we may then be able to subsidise events in venues that need assistance and maybe even go further..
I have always tried to create an inclusive family atmosphere with our team and our audience and now it’s our chance to see if we can come together and support each other. Our social media tells us we have a combined audience of over 200,000 people a small donation from a tiny % of that audience would ensure we could bring you amazing content on a regular basis and more importantly provide paid work for our team.
A full breakdown of how all funds are dispensed will be available online.
